About Anne: Anne brings over 10 years’ experience in progressing students in to graduate employment through delivering employability services across HE and managing effective digital campaigns which support universities existing employability services. Anne’s ability to work in synergy with HE partners and to connect with employers of all sizes has generated a significant increase in positive outcomes for students at a number of UK universities.

 

Anne says: “Universities need to continuously improve their service offerings to stay competitive. Digitisation and creative engagement are imperative for any HE organisation that wants to stay ahead. As a digital strategist, I provide universities with the building blocks needed to digitise their existing careers and employability service. I begin by gathering a clear understanding of clients’ needs, so that we can bring effective solutions to the unique challenges they face.”

Jack Tims – Employability Manager

About Jack: Jack is a qualified IAG professional with many years of experience in careers and employability guidance. With a keen ability to successfully lead on multiple simultaneous projects, Jack currently manages a team of Employability Advisers, coordinates the Santander Universities SME Internship programme for Middlesex University, and implements recruitment strategies to match STEM students with suitable work experience placements and graduate roles. Jack also possesses an near-encyclopaedic knowledge of employability services and processes, meaning he is often the first person colleagues turn to for information.

 

Jack says: “I’m proud to be part of such an innovative team that continuously looks for new ways to develop our service. Each of us puts our own unique skills and ideas in to the mix. I get a real sense of achievement when I see the buzz we’ve created on campus with our latest ideas and projects.”

Wendy Sale – Employability Adviser

About Wendy: Wendy is the unbreakable diamond core at the heart of the employability team, managing the daily, broad and fast stream enquiries from student, graduates and employers. Modestly avoiding the lime-light, Wendy is often the secret behind everyone’s successes. Wendy brings over 5 years’ professional experience from her background in Welfare to Work. As well as supporting students, Wendy has experience of in-house recruitment and has supported ex-offenders and people with physical and mental health conditions, helping them to smash through their ‘barriers’ and winning an award for ‘Outstanding work with a client’. In a previous incarnation, Wendy also worked in talent acquisition within the pharmaceutical industry.

 

Wendy says: “Never judge someone, instead, take the time to understand them. Remember, if you want to achieve your dream, you need to invest time in making it happen. You’re worth it!”

Matt Lewis – Employability Adviser/Blog Writer

About Matt: A qualified trainer and assessor (TAQA, PTTLS), Matt brings over 5 years of professional experience in coaching, mentoring and employability, with a background in Welfare to Work and academic support. Matt is equally confident delivering employability support through workshops, presentations and 1-to-1 coaching, or indirectly through creation of a fantastic range of resources, guides, and blog: MDXworks.WordPress.com, which he writes and illustrates. Matt is a master of engaging with students through unconventional methods, including creative successes such as his popular ‘CV-swapping parties’ and informative ‘Snakes and career ladders’ board-game. Matt specialised in providing guidance for students within Arts & Creative Industries at Middlesex University and is experienced in supporting people with disabilities, learning differences and mental health conditions.

Ryan Coffey – Employability Adviser

About Ryan: Ryan’s experience includes talent development and Marketing before becoming an Employability Adviser. Ryan has a background in employment and HR advisory roles, and is CIPD qualified. Ryan also worked with well-known commercial and charity organisations, including working in talent development for a leading bank in the US. One of the newest members of our growing team, Ryan confidently delivers 1-to-1 support including working as a mentor at a London University and is champion of our current undergraduate mentoring scheme.

 

Ryan says: “It’s worth doing some self-assessment to really think about what skills you have to offer an employer. Look at what they want from an ideal candidate. Identify any weak areas where you don’t quite match. These are the skills you need to develop if you want to achieve your goal. ”

Jenny Bannister – Employability Adviser

About Jenny: The newest member of our growing team, Jenny is CIPD qualified and has experience in both talent management and as a HR adviser. Jenny has extensive experience in managing successful recruitment campaigns for both students and graduates, as well as delivery of placement schemes for both large-scale corporate organisations and SMEs. Jenny has received an award and numerous recommendations for service delivery including ‘Best SME Undergraduate Employer Award’ at the National Undergraduate Employability Awards 2015. Jenny currently supports with delivery of our employability services to our London based universities.  

 

Jenny says: “Grab every opportunity that’s offered to you as experience is key to getting where you want to be! Always push yourself out of your comfort zone, it will show employers you’re willing to learn and will help with your personal development. ”
