Elevator Pitch

We can support students/graduates to prepare and practice their elevator pitch to help them gain confidence and make a great first impression when networking or meeting recruiters or interviewers.

"Great,

let's talk!"

"Show me

something else"

What's an Elevator pitch?

Your elevator pitch is a short statement you’d say when talking to a recruiter for the first time. It’s a brief sound-bite introducing you and describing your background. It should outline your relevant experience, achievements, skills and career goals in a way that convincingly ‘sells’ the benefits of hiring you.

The name suggests you have someone’s attention while sharing an elevator, but it’s far more likely you’ll use your pitch when...

  • networking with recruiters at a jobs fair

  • phoning an employer to enquire about their vacancy

  • in an interview, when they say ‘Tell me about yourself’.
